The previous thread inspired me to take on one for myself.

I was brought up in the Christian/Baptist home.
Went to church always as a kid.
My family just became disfunctional and stopped going.
I got bored and started going again to a small church
down the road. (By myself, 3 times a week)

Until this day I dont understand anything I do.
Religion seems like a big concept to me.
People base their lifes and also their governments upon it.

I personally feel that religion is crap.
Sure, I don't know for a fact that its all fake,
And I may "go to the bottom layer"
But... Im not willing to worship something that Im not willing
to take to the highest level.

I have so many disbeliefs that its pretty much impossible to follow anything.
I can read and read; somehow they all go into gods/godesses, or something supernatural.

Maybe I should make up a few basic concepts for 'Dainism".
Yes..... that is the name of my personal religion. Heh.
(fyi, its a joke. ;p... because.. theirs nothing that describes me...
its just... DANA... yupyup.)

I still have to go to a Christian service every friday as part of the college I go to, and have done for 10 years now... Despite many attempts to get out of it on religious grounds along with my fellow Pagans (All four of us :P), but we never got any where. The only good religion is a personal one, religion and politics should NEVER mix... Just look at what it did to Christianity. All beliefs, all value judgements are personal; we're all just on one big head trip, things only go wrong when people start trying to force their trip onto other people.

I myself am a Pantheist (i.e. I believe 'God' and the universe/existence are the same thing), so I agree that talk of personified Gods or anything supernatural doesn't sit well with me. Thats why I became a mystic, anything divine must exist in our own heads, available to everyone, its simply a matter of realising it... To quote the old Alchemical formula; 'This is the Medicine of Metals, the Stone of the Philosophers, the Elixire of Life, Ultimate Wisdom and Perfect Love... And it is inside your own head!'

If you want a word to describe your beliefs you're an ecclectic, which is any one who follows their own path, I myself am an ecclectic to an extent, as most modern pagans are, due to our having no set dogma.

Not really that much to tell... An Ecclectic is simply any one who doesn't follow a set religious path, some one who combines a number of ideas to create a personal concept. So its kinda hard to pin the idea down :P
